The traditional Törggelen
In South Tyrol, the thanksgiving festival for the harvest obtained is called “Törggelen”. The name derives from the German word “Torkel” – press – but not only new wine is celebrated. In typical inns, meat dishes, sauerkraut and dumplings are also served. To conclude on a sweet note, you cannot miss out on delicious stuffed pancakes and roasted chestnuts.

Several canals and waterways branch off around Merano, the original purpose of which was to irrigate the orchards. From the Waalweg path you can cast your gaze on the village of Tirolo and the Castle of Scena.
